When I say this, I am basically referring to the World-Wide-Web. A bargain shopper can truly have
a blast in cyberspace. I noticed after teaching my mother the ways of the Internet, she suddenly
became an online bargain shopper. Oh well, it was probably inevitable. Now she turns to her
computer for all of her clothing and trinket needs. She is one of those few who even shop for her
        groceries online.[...]

Are you a bargain shopper? After growing up around various women, I've come to believe that
most women are. You can deem this bogus if you like, but how many women do you know that aren't
always in search of those great deals on clothing and shoes? I have to laugh at my wife and daughters
when they tell me that they found this great deal of a pair of boots, or a new jacket. It's
funny because they already have a number of them. How many pairs of shoes do you need? Well,
apparently many women need a pair for each outfit. I have come to the simple conclusion that this
ritual will not be ending any time soon, so I just thank goodness each one of my girls is a bargain shopper.

There are infinite places to shop these days. Whether you're a bargain shopper downtown, or
in the local mall, probably limits your selection a great deal. When I say this, I am basically
referring to the World-Wide-Web. A bargain shopper can truly have a blast in cyberspace.
I noticed after teaching my mother the ways of the Internet, she suddenly became an online bargain shopper.
Oh well, it was probably inevitable. Now she turns to her computer for all of her clothing and
trinket needs. She is one of those few who even shop for her groceries online. At least I
know that she saves some serious dough in cyberspace.

Where do you go for the absolute best deals on any and everything? If you are a mall walker or
outlet store browser, this is fine; but don't disregard the World-Wide-Web. When you hop on
your laptop at home, you put the entire world at your fingertips. If you are a true bargain shopper,
then this is the epitome of places to browse. Only online will you find tons of web stores vying
for your business and offering the best selection, hands down. By comparing the various websites,
you can easily pinpoint the best price on whatever you're looking for. Now that's being
a great bargain shopper. In addition, there are wonderful selections that can't be found in
the actual store at your local mall.

For example, if you love Victoria's Secret and do your routine bargain shopper thing there once a
week, then you're sadly missing out on a lot. Now get online and look at Victoria's Secret.
You'll be amazed at how much more there truly is. This is the new millennium. It's
time to conform to the new bargain shopper mentality, and get on the Internet.

of some kind, is a much better suited living room design for entertaining guests.[...]

There's two basic living room designs you'll want to consider depending on what your needs are.
First you have to ask yourself what you want to be doing in your living room. Is your living room
going to be a place to spend time with friends and family, entertaining people and whatnot? Or,
is it primarily going to be an entertainment center; a place to watch television, movies, listen to music,
etc. What living room design you choose should reflect its basic function.

Back in the day, living room designs were centered on entertaining guests and spending time with friends
and family. These kinds of living rooms are still common today in homes with a little more space
available in them. The idea to these kinds of living room designs should be to provide a comfortable
environment conducive to conversation. A big screen TV with one or more couches facing it isn't
really going to work, as its hard to carry on a conversation and entertain guests when everyone is facing
the same direction. A circle or semi-circle of couches and chairs facing inward toward each other,
surrounding a coffee table of some kind, is a much better suited living room design for entertaining
         guests.

Unfortunately, most of us don't have enough rooms in our homes and apartments to spare an entire
one to just jabbing away with friends. It's for this reason the older style living room designs
are becoming less popular. Most of us end up using our living rooms as a sort of 'TV room',
and the living room design reflects that. Here, a couch and chairs facing the television with a
table of some kind laid out in front is appropriate and conducive to laying around watching the tube.

Where then does one entertain guests when you have this sort of TV room living room design? More
often than not, I end up hanging out with friends in my kitchen; it is large enough to have a table and
chairs, and is more conducive to talking than sitting in front of a television. I don't know
about you, but I think it's a little strange to come over to a friends house and just sit there watching
TV, unless of course they live nearby or are friends you see every day.

A living room design that is both conducive to talking and watching TV seems like a good compromise,
but is hard to do. It's a good test of your interior design talents, however!

When it comes to home remodeling, the importance of detail is often overlooked. But it's the
details that bring your individual style and personality to the project. One of the most inexpensive
ways to enhance a room is by using light to transform the space. A small detail like accent lighting
can be just as important as the floor plan to the look of the room when the final product is finished.

There are many choices in accent lighting from table lamps and floor lamps to track lighting and in-wall
or in-ceiling fixtures. When decorating your home, lighting should never be overlooked or considered
an insignificant detail. Light can make the difference between a cold room and a warm room, and
the accent lighting you choose will go beyond function and set the tone you want to establish in your
         home.

The first step is to survey the room and look for any dark corners or shadowy areas. Choosing the
right accent lighting can be as simple as finding the perfect lamp for a table in a far corner of the
room that is not reached by the room's larger lighting fixtures. Next you want to make sure
that the accent lighting you choose for a room will be functional and not interfere with the flow of
the room. This means no stray cords in the middle of the floor or placing lamps where they could
be knocked over. A few years ago there were a series of halogen lamps on the market that became
too hot even started fires when they were placed too close to walls and ceilings. You should always
keep safety in mind when choosing appropriate lighting for your home.

Installing small lights under the cabinets in the kitchen is a good way to provide accent lighting along
the countertop without the hassle and clutter of cords and wires from lamps. Because the kitchen
is used to prepare food, you want the accent lighting in this room to be as unobtrusive as possible.
Another place where accent lighting should be functional is the bathroom. Selecting a decorative
but functional track light over the sink or a set of two separate wall fixtures on either side can enhance
the appearance of the room without interfering with the purpose of the room.

If you have a piece of artwork that is particularly spectacular, you can order special accent lighting
that will highlight the piece. Rather than getting lost on the wall, the art will stand out and
serve as a main focal point in the room. And even if your art is nothing special, the right accent
lighting can turn a simple picture into a work of art, creating depth in the piece that would otherwise
         go unnoticed.

Several years ago we went to a resort area in Northern Minnesota. One of the days the weather was
bad so we decided to go into town shopping. As with most resort towns there were many gift and
specialty shops. We were in one of the shops at the top of the hour and we heard a bird chirping.
I looked around and noticed that the sound was coming from a bird clock. The chirping for that
         hour was from a chickadee.

We enjoy watching birds come to the feeders that we have in our yard. I liked the bird clock because
in place of the numbers on the face of the clock was a picture of a different song bird. At the
top of each hour the bird clock would play the song of that particular bird. The clock was expensive,
but we thought that it would be a nice souvenir from the trip and would look nice in our home.

When we got home we hung the bird clock close to the window that over looks the bird feeders and bath.
In order to set the clock for the right time you need to start at 12:00 and work through each hour until
you get to the right time. We were setting the clock at 11:00 so this meant that we needed to go
through each of the songs on the bird clock. The sounds coming from the clock were of great interest
to our cats. They were climbing on us and were trying to find out where the noises were coming
from. Once we hung the clock the cats would come running on the top of the hour to see where the
bird was. The clock does have a light sensor on it. During the night when the room is dark
the volume is much lower than when there is light on in the room.

After a period of time we did not even notice the bird clock chirping on the top of each hour, because
we were used to it. Even the cats lost their curiosity for the clock. Once we had purchased
the bird clock we noticed that there were several varieties of similar clocks. Some of the clocks
had different breeds of dogs on them that would bark at the top of each hour. There were also wild
animal clocks that featured the noise of each animal. My husband hunts water fowl. In one
of his hunting magazines they were selling a clock that featured a different duck or goose for each hour.
We thought it would be funny to have several of the different clocks. On the top of each hour you
would have a wide variety of sounds.

Now that we have had the bird clock for several years we have turned the sound off. Some of our
guests found it annoying, especially in the morning because it is located close to one of our guest rooms.
We have also found that now the bird clock is very common place and many are of much poorer quality than
         the one we purchased.

rush around, but also I had another mishap to further mess up the flow of my already lousy morning; I
was out of instant coffee. I barely had time to stop by the local coffee drive-thru and get myself
a hot cup of joe brewed from their automatic coffee maker.[...]

I used to have all of my coffee from instant crystals that I could just stick in hot water in the morning.
I am a late sleeper, and a heavy sleeper, not inclined towards the morning hours which my job requires
me to keep, so it is best if I can just roll out of bed, but on some water, and throw the crystals into
it to heat. I had not even considered an automatic coffee maker at the time.

Why bother getting up early and listening to the painfully slow plunking of the automatic drip coffee
maker as it slowly made my desperately needed coffee one drop at a time? Why bother with the measuring
of ingredients, which an automatic coffee maker requires. It seemed to me like I would always have
too much coffee or too little, and then would have to deal with the leftovers later. But with instant
coffee, I could have exactly how much I wanted right away. I figured that an automatic coffee maker
just would not be worth the trouble.

My attitude changed when, one day, I was running late for work. Not only did I have to get up and
rush around, but also I had another mishap to further mess up the flow of my already lousy morning; I
was out of instant coffee. I barely had time to stop by the local coffee drive-thru and get myself
a hot cup of joe brewed from their automatic coffee maker. I was absolutely amazed. The coffee
made by automatic coffee makers was simply so much better than what I had been drinking at home.

There was just no comparison at all between the two, and that's a fact. I went out that day
and bought myself an automatic coffee maker after work, and have been happy with it ever since.
The added convenient of instant is just simply not worth the loss in taste that you get through not using
an automatic coffee maker. And, if you really must sleep to the last minute (and you know who you
are out there) you can always just go on and do what I do: brew up your automatic coffee maker
the night before and then leave it sitting, keeping it hot all night.

The coffee will still taste just as good, and best of all, there it is waiting right there for your drinking
pleasure when you wake up the next morning. A wonderful solution. And if you like a really
strong caffeine injection, there are always automatic espresso makers too.

It can take up to thirty minutes for lava lamps to fully heat up and reach optimal temperature, and in
this time the lava does not rise or bubble in a uniform pattern, rather it slowly dances and stretches
inside the lamp. Once lava lamps are properly heated, the lava bubbles and flows rapidly inside
the lamp, creating a bubbling effect. Some precautions about lava lamps are necessary.[...]

Lava lamps, a kitschy item from the sixties and seventies, started making a comeback in the nineties
and are still going strong over a decade later. Aside from being interesting to look at, they make
excellent conversation pieces and they can bring a soft glow of light to a corner that would be overpowered
         by a regular bulb lamp.

You can find lava lamps for bargain prices in many retail novelty stores or through many sites online.
More rarely, you could even encounter an original lava lamp from decades ago at a yard sale or a flea
market. Ebay is also a great place to look if you have a particular style and color in mind.

Lava lamps are sometimes referred to as hippie lamps because they originated at a time when people either
had funky decor (the hippies) or went with a more simple and clean-cut approach (the conservatives) to
decorating. It is forty years since the introduction of the original lava lamp and the rules for
owning these funky lamps have changed. Lava lamps are no longer considered a hippie item, but instead
a retro design piece and a way to approach lighting in a unique and interesting way.

The first lava lamps came in a pretty basic style—colored lava suspended in clear liquid, or oil.
The lava settles at the bottom of the lamp when the lava lamp is not on, but as soon as the lamp is clicked
on the lava in the bottom begins to heat and slowly floats to the top. It can take up to thirty
minutes for lava lamps to fully heat up and reach optimal temperature, and in this time the lava does
not rise or bubble in a uniform pattern, rather it slowly dances and stretches inside the lamp.
Once lava lamps are properly heated, the lava bubbles and flows rapidly inside the lamp, creating a bubbling
         effect.

Some precautions about lava lamps are necessary. It is important to keep lava lamps out of extreme
cold. Cold can crack the outer glass part of the lamp and also cause the lava to break off into
small pieces. Shaking a lava lamp should also be avoided, as it will cause the lava to break up
and tiny bubbles to form in the liquid at the top of the lamp. Lava lamps are meant to house a
large piece of lava inside an oily liquid fluid. When the lava separates into tiny pieces it can
mix with the oil and may never form back into the original large piece.

Whatever your reason for owning lava lamps, whether it brings back memories of the lamp you had as a
child or in your college apartment, or if you just discovered the beauty of hot lava floating in oil
and want to have one for your first apartment, one thing is for sure: Lava lamps are trendy lighting
that will never disappear from the world of interior design.

A lawn is always a great addition to any home. Many potential homeowners will not buy a house that
does not have one. Though this is a great feature, it does come with the extra expense of lawn
equipment. The biggest piece of lawn equipment you may have to purchase is a lawn mower.
Your budget will determine what kind you get, but many with a large lawn like to buy the riding variety.
Riding lawnmowers are often versatile pieces of lawn equipment because they can be used for many other
         things as well.

If you want a garden, another piece of lawn equipment you may want to look into is a rototiller.
These are used to dig up the dirt so the garden can be planted. You can do this by hand, but it
often is backbreaking work and many want the extra help. Other items you might want to consider
when buying lawn equipment are hedge trimmers, shovels, hoes, weed eaters, and tree trimming equipment.
These are things you will find a need for at one point in time or another.

Lawn equipment can be purchased at stores that specialize in equipment, but you can also find lawn equipment
in large department stores like Sears. Sears, depending on which store you visit, has a large home
and garden department with many types of lawn equipment from which to choose. Other retailers like
Wal-Mart, K-mart, and JC Penny may also have the same stuff. If you go to one of these places,
keep an eye out for the best deal. Because they can be high priced items, many stores like to keep
         competitive prices.

The best time of year to buy lawn equipment might be spring, or late summer and early fall. Some
stores have specials in spring because that is when a lot of people begin to think about taking care
of their lawn for yet another year. If you look in late summer or early fall, you can find great
deals on lawn equipment because the stores are trying to get rid of the stuff they have not sold during
         the summer months.

You can also find lawn equipment on eBay and other online auction sites. The tricky thing about
this is knowing what condition the equipment might be in, and it may be unrealistic to get large pieces
of lawn equipment shipped to your home. If you want to go the used or discount route, you might
be better off sticking to the classified ads in your local paper.

We have had a very hot and dry summer. The yards in our neighborhood are drying up and turning
brown. The flowers in the patio planter are in need of watering twice a day. We have decided
that we need to do something different in the patio planter next year.

We built our new deck last summer. We did not have it completed until late summer early fall, so
we did not plant anything in the patio planter that the carpenter installed along the railings or our
deck. Last year I bought several mums in the fall and placed them, still in their containers inside
the patio planter. They looked nice and after the frost I simply through the containers away.
We put evergreen tips in the planters for the winter season and then removed them in the spring.

This spring I made the mistake of filling the patio planter with dirt and directly planting flowers into
it. The plants looked great in the early part of the summer, but with the heat they are starting
to look bad. I am also concerned that the dirt and the water are going to wear through the wood
of the patio planter. My neighbor suggested measuring the planter and then buying a plastic liner
that I can place inside of it. This will keep the wood safe and will allow me to exchange the plants
for the different seasons with ease. I thought this would be a great idea. I measured the
planter and then went to a nursery supply store and found a heavy duty plastic liner. The gardener
at the nursery suggested that I place large rocks in the bottom of the container topped with an inch
of gravel and then potting soil so that there would be plenty of drainage for the plants.

While I was at the nursery I found several colors of garden mums. The gardener said that they would
bloom until the frost came. When I arrived home I pulled the aging plants out and then I scooped
all of the soil out of the patio planter. I placed the liner into the planter and then placed the
individual pots that the mums came in into the wooden planter. This will be very easy to clear
away once we have a frost. I think next year the plants will do much better being in the liner
rather than directly in the wooden patio planter. I think the planter will stay looking nicer longer
         also.

There are many benefits that come with owning your own home. One of them is backyard landscaping.
This is a way to create a unique area that you and your family can enjoy. Backyard landscaping
often involves some initial intense labor, but the effects are worth the effort.

It is important when starting landscaping projects to plan how much time you want to invest to maintain
the look of the project. When we first moved to our home we loved the backyard. The previous
owner had planted a huge variety of perennials in the backyard as well as along the side of the house.
The flowers added color for each season, however keeping the weeds under control was very time consuming.
After two seasons we decided that the backyard landscaping needed to be less time consuming. The
previous owner had been a teacher, with the entire summer off. This allowed her ample time to work
in the flower gardens. We both work full time so the weeds were always getting away from us.
The backyard landscaping no longer looked as beautiful as when we moved in.

There were several people that we knew that wanted the perennials. We dug them out and shared them
with others for their backyard landscaping. We then laid down heavy black plastic to prevent weeds
from growing up in the area. We covered the area with washed river rocks that we had delivered
from the local nursery. We placed landscaping tiles around the rocks to hold them in place.
To finish our backyard landscaping project we placed large pots of colorful annuals and a park bench
to sit on. We find that we enjoy the time sitting on the park bench enjoying our backyard landscaping.

One of the neighbors commented on how neat the backyard appears now. And we find that we spend
more time in the space because of the bench. I told my husband that I prefer sitting on the bench
watching the birds on the feeders rather than pulling weeds.

Backyard landscaping should enhance the enjoyment of owning your own home. It should not be so
time consuming that it ads stress on your precious time. By keeping the backyard landscaping simple
you can have a unique area and also have the time to enjoy it. We will be able to add features
to our backyard as time goes by. We started with a basic design that we can expand as time, energy
and finances allows. We do not like clutter. By keeping things simple the area is easy to
mow around, so this also saves time that is spent to maintain the look of the area.

I guess that you could call me a man's man. No – that is not quite correct. That
         sort of implies that I am a dude – I am not. I don't watch football, I don't like
to sock my friends in the arm unless they really have it coming, and I do not really have any trouble
talking about my feelings. It is just that, well, if it is a difference between living in squalor
and taking the time to clean up and decorate my room, 9 times out of 10 I will chose the squalor.
What a difference getting engaged has made.

We went shopping for house goods the other day. The whole way to the store, my wife kept talking
about the 800 thread count sheets that she wanted. I don't even know what 800 thread count
sheets are, but she is very insistent on it. They cannot be 300 thread count sheets, like the ones
that I had when we first met that she was complaining about from about the time that we got serious.

To be honest, I can not see the difference. She has 800 thread count sheets on her bed, and claims
that they are so much nice than mine, but a sheet is a sheet as far as I am concerned. I suppose
if it makes her feel happy to get 800 thread count sheets, God bless her shopping trip, but it is a bit
of a hassle to be dragged along on such an excursion.

It is not just that she needs her expensive 800 thread count sheets. I am willing to split expenses
with my dear fiancée for house goods, as for everything else. It is that she needs special 800
thread count sheets in just the right color made out of genuine Egyptian cotton.

We spent all day going from one store to another, looking through sheet after sheet that, to my eye,
all looked identical, and still, no perfect 800 thread count sheets. I was going absolutely crazy
by the end after spending so much time staring at endless aisles of soft, fluffy pastels that all looked
more or less the same to my eye. I got home from our marathon 800 thread count sheets trip and
wanted to turn on some football just to spite her, but I was too tired. I went to sleep before
she could even put her new 800 thread count sheets on the bed.

The summer months provide countless hours of fun and entertainment for the whole family. It's
a time meant to be enjoyed outside in the fresh air and warm sunshine. There's nothing more
relaxing than to walk outside with a great book in one hand and cool glass of water in the other to unwind
for a bit in your aluminum lawn and patio furniture. Although, this type of outdoor furniture is
good, if you don't know how to clean and maintain them, then they won't last long.

One of the most important to-dos is making sure you clean and wax the frame often. Since these
pieces are generally open to harsh elements on a daily basis during the summer months, it's important
to wash them down after each use. Suntan oil, sweat and environmental contaminants such as pollen
and unfiltered water are the most harmful and damaging examples of elements to which lawn and patio furniture
         are exposed.

It's important that you remember to never use a pressure washer for cleaning. By doing this
you're forcing the furniture to endure a lot of water at a very hard pressure. Most of the
time the framing can't handle it, and can even bend or break. Since it's impossible to
keep all damaging elements off of the lawn and patio furniture, it's important to wash it down about
every 2-3 weeks. If at all possible it's advisable to wipe down the lawn and patio furniture
as soon as possible to avoid any long lasting effects.

When you're cleaning it, make sure you use a detergent as well as warm water. Because the primary
things the lawn and patio furniture is exposed to are oils and lotions, its best you use a degreaser,
or are strong fighting soap. You want to make sure that your pieces will last longer than just
one season, and can be enjoyed by others for years to come. If taken care of correctly, then you
won't have to constantly go and buy more lawn and patio furniture every year.

More often than not people tend to leave this type of furniture outside all year long. If you're
looking to keep your pieces in top condition, you might want to consider storing them in a shed or outside
building. When exposed to the weather, especially rain and frost, your lawn and patio furniture
will not last more than 3 or 4 years in the best condition. Rust and weakened frames are a direct
result of harsh elements and will leave your lawn and patio furniture looking old and rough. Overall,
proper care and maintenance isn't too difficult and if you're careful, you'll be able to
relax every summer without having the stress of worrying about unattractive furniture ever again.

Not Born With A Green Thumb? Consider Landscaping With Rocks

with rocks gives a natural look to your yard and provides a sense of order.[...]

If you're tired of your yard looking like it's more like a graveyard than a place to go and relax,
and you were not born with a green thumb, you should consider landscaping with rocks. Instead of
planting trees and plants with names you can't even say, giving your front or back yard a rough but
refined look with rocks, would be a wonderful alternative.

Using rocks in a landscaping design is probably the one idea that's overlooked more than any other
yard decorating option. Because the idea sounds so boring, you're probably thinking that it's
insane and dull. Although, believe it or not, when you are landscaping with rocks, more often than
not your yard can look even better than a space filled with greenery that is more trouble than it's
worth. Landscaping with rocks gives a natural look to your yard and provides a sense of order.

Most landscaping themes and ideas are so complicated and difficult to take care of that most people would
rather just have green grass for a yard. However, when landscaping with rocks you're not forced
to deal with that headache. Contrary to popular assumption, maintaining a yard decorated primarily
with rock is much easier. With this idea you're not forced to run out every evening to water,
trim back, and spray for bugs. Landscaping with rocks really only requires that you occasionally
wipe down the rock itself and pluck a few weeds.

If you happen to live in a climate that is horrible for growing trees, and the most widely seen plant
is the cactus, consider that landscaping with rocks was introduced just for you. Since you're
not forced to worry about the health of a rock, you'll never again have to look out your window and
see that once again, the sun and heat has taken your plant's life. Aside from people who hate
growing anything, landscaping with rocks has a practical use as well.

Since it eliminates countless hours you would need to spend in a gardened lawn, you'll be free to
use that extra time doing other things that are important and necessary. The rocks won't die,
and you're able to enjoy some relaxation in a space that doesn't take hardly any work to keep
up. It's a nice thought that you can have the benefits of a beautiful, natural, and stunning
yard without the painful work generally required.

Over all, this type of landscaping has benefits that most people often forget about. Because there
are so many different ways you can landscape with this material, the ability to create and actually have
fun is right at your finger tips. From rock gardens to a rock pond, you're not stuck with just
one idea and one rock. No matter what look you want, or how you want to get it, landscaping with
rocks lets you have all the choices, and nature can't play her evil role any more.

Nothing is more helpful in getting a good night's sleep than quality sheets. You can own a
cutting-edge sleep system that boasts the most high-tech features available in bedding today. However,
if you don't have quality sheets you are still going to find yourself tossing and turning all night
         long.

The higher the number thread-count the better the sheets are. These high thread count sheets are
also called percale. A sheet set has to have at least 100 to be considered percale. Some
of these sets boast a whopping 1000 thread count sheets in their collections. Many of us know that
traditionally, 250 count was prime and 400 was outstanding. So why all the high numbers today?
You would have never heard of 1000 thread count sheets two decades ago.

Here's a little background information on the new 1000 thread count sheets available on the market
today. Basically we have to look at how the item is made. Most sheet sets are constructed
out of cotton. Cotton is fundamentally a fabric that is woven into form. Each square inch
of cotton has a certain number of threads that are used in the weaving process. Today, weaving
has become quite high-tech and some manufacturers have produced thread that is so fine that 1000 of them
can be fit into a square inch of fabric.

There is another factor in the high numbers as well. Ply refers to the thickness of the material.
Some fabric is two ply. This two ply fabric is constructed by twisting the yarns together.
After the yarns are twisted the fabric is weaved. Single ply only uses one thread. Basically,
using two ply yarns will double the sheet's thread count. One company can make a set out of
single ply that has 500 stitches in each square inch. Another company can make the same using two-ply
yarns and wind up with 1000 thread count sheets.

Ironically, the two ply material makes the item heavier simply through its nature. A person may
get a better night's sleep on a lower number of threads than on 1000 thread count sheets. In
order to reach the high number, the yarns have to be woven together making the bed set heavier and thicker
and this is not always the most comfortable.

Ideally, you want to look for bed sets that have between 100 and 400. Anything higher than that
may not be the best investment. The 1000 thread count sheets may look good on paper but it is the
         performance that really matters.

but it also will afford you a great trip down memory lane, all the way back to your childhood.[...]

When shopping for antique toys, it can be extremely helpful to have a price guide in hand. Many
unscrupulous sellers are hoping to gain profit due to a buyer's lack of knowledge. Watching
some of the antique shows can help educate you as a buyer.

For a few dollars, you can purchase an antique toys pricing guide and have a firm understanding of how
to find a bargain. If you happen to have collected many of your childhood toys and are ready to
sell them, there can be a great deal of money to be made. Do some research regarding antique toys
and their prices and some items may make you a mint!

An extremely popular collection of antique toys includes a wooding rocking horse. Wooden rocking
horses are widely available at online antique stores and often cost well over $1,000 if they are in good
condition. Some wear is expected, but the rocking horse must work and contain the original pieces.

Surprisingly, antique toys sought after by collectors typically include marbles. One onionskin
marble on EBay is currently priced at $500 and steadily climbing. While marbles may be at the bottom
of your antique toys list, they can sell for huge amounts of money.

In the 1970s, many little boys craved an Evel Knievel Stunt Cycle. These rare bikes with the matching
Evel Knievel doll earn well over $400 now, and parents back then paid only dollars for them. If
you have an Evel Knievel Stunt Cycle in your old toy chest, pull it out and gain some money selling it
         to antique toys collectors.

Antique toys collectors are interested in even unusual items. One tube of Mattel's Plastic
Goop is entertaining bids of well over $100. Can you imagine paying $100 for a small tube of plastic
mix? If you are holding any old goop, you will earn far more than you paid.

A set of two Whammo Frisbees in their original 1973 packaging are currently earning bids of $75.
With more than three days left in the auction, these two Frisbees are going to make well over their original
purchase price. Even Frisbees are sought after antique toys.

Antique Barbies usually make a great deal of money. These antique toys were usually played with
avidly, but if you happen to have a doll that comes with the box or an antique carrying case, the Barbies
         can sell for hundreds.

Buying and selling antique toys can be a great way to make a few dollars but it also will afford you
a great trip down memory lane, all the way back to your childhood.

There are many things that a person can do to enhance the value of your property and also to increase
your curb appeal. One inexpensive way of doing this is through the use of patio tile. This
may take some sweat and patience but the results are well worth the time and energy. Properly installed
patio tile gives a professional finish to any landscaping project.

You can find the patio tile in a variety of styles, sizes and colors at most home improvement stores
and also at gardening centers. We have found that the workers at both locations are very good at
giving pointers about the proper installation of the patio tile and also what tools to purchase to make
the job as easy as possible.

We have used a variety of patio tile in our yard. We used what is called bullet nosed tiles to
border our flower beds. The bullet nosed tiles fit into each other and are placed by digging a
2 inch trench along the flower beds to be bordered. This leaves a professional looking edging that
is easy to mow next to. We also used this same type of tile around our gazebo in the yard.
This edging holds the decorative rock that we placed around the gazebo area in place. This is a
very cost effective edging that can be placed in a very short period of time.

We also used flat patio tile as stepping stones in a path along our flower garden area. We placed
the tiles at varying distances from each other to create a whimsical feel to the garden path area.
Once the grass grew up around the tiles they had the look of having been placed years ago. Our
home is over a hundred years old so this is the effect that we wanted to create. The flat patio
tile is available in round, square or rectangle shapes and also come in various thicknesses. This
way you can decide how deep you want to place them in the ground.

We have also used patio tile to mark the area to place our fire ring. This helps to keep the grass
looking nice in the fire ring area and also is easy to mow around. It is also safer for having
children around the fire pit because we tell them that they need to stay on this side of the tiles.
We have found many uses for the inexpensive patio tile around our yard.

They call it an air bed. Air bed, as if that changes the fact that it's nothing but an ordinary
air mattress with a little automatic electronic pump attached to it. I've had to sleep on this
air mattress for the past two weeks now. And I'll continue to have to sleep on this air mattress
for another month, while my sister and her fiancee are in town.

I can't believe that my mother would kick me out of my own room. I'm a light sleeper, and
a finicky one, and it wasn't until I got my new bed that I could sleep through the night. And
now, sleeping on this air mattress, I find myself waking up practically every hour, all night long, unable
to keep my eyes closed. But it's not even the air mattress that bothers me most. It's
not being able to go into my own room.

I grew up in that room, and all of my most important possessions are there. My baseball cards are
there, my guitar is there, all my clothes are there. Everything is in that room but me, and where
am I? Stuck in the family room on this leaky old air mattress which deflates halfway through the
         night.

There's just no justice. They should be the ones who have to spend the night tossing and turning
on the air mattress. They should be the ones to be forced to stay in the living room where they
have no privacy whatsoever,. They should be the ones who are inconvenienced for a month and a half.
It's not like I'm visiting their house. They're visiting mine. And even if I
did visit their house, do you think that they would give up their own room to be good hosts so that I
would not have to sleep on the floor? Do you think that they would be the ones who would have to
take the air mattress? Not a chance!

The only bright side to all of this is that my mom is starting to let me sleep over at my best friend,
Jimmy's house more often. She says that it is because I am such a good boy, but I know the
real reason. She just wants me out of her hair, so that she can take better care of my sister and
entertain guests. But I don't even care. At Jimmy's house, I don't ever have
to sleep on the floor. They have a real spare bed.

If you have antique photos in your basket of family heirlooms, then it is important to take care of them.
Antique photos depicting certain events or people have value to collectors, but this value cannot compare
to the value a family may place on them.

Caring for antique photos is important because if they are not properly cared for, not only do they lose
value, but they also can be destroyed. One thing that is important to remember is to keep antique
photos out of direct sunlight. Light, especially direct sunlight, is harmful to antique photos.
Direct sunlight makes the ink used on the photos fade, so it is hard to see what is going on in the picture.
Artificial light does not fade them quite as much, in fact, not really enough to be able to tell a difference.

Another thing to remember about them is not to bend them. When an antique photo is bent, a mark
is permanently one the photo. Since many antique photos are on a card board type material, if the
photo gets bent it breaks up the picture and you will see the card board and not the photo itself.

Among collectors, not all antique photos have high value. There are certain events that pictures
are taken of that are worth more than others. For example, an antique photo of a wedding party
         is worth more than just a random picture.  But even wedding party pictures have differing values;
the more people in the picture the higher the value of the photo.

Also, if the people in the picture seem a little more high class (the clothing is expensive within the
time period of the photo), then the photo is worth a little more than if it were of a lower class family.

Sometimes antique photos with only one person are valuable. If the photo is of little children,
it can be valuable. Antique photos of famous people are often valuable, too, especially if the
photo is signed by that person.

Many people like to label their photos. This is not always a good thing to do to antique photos.
If you use a pen to label the photos, it is possible that the ink might react somehow with the ink in
the photo. If you must label antique photos, it is better to use a pencil of some sort. It
is better for the picture because the graphite will not react. Another benefit of pencil is that
if you decide you do not want it labeled, then it is easier to erase than pen.

If you have antique photos and would like to know exactly what they are worth, then you should go to
an antique appraiser who specializes in dated photographs. They can study the images and will be
able to tell you if you have a treasure or not.

Wal-Mart is a chain of warehouse style, large-scale discount retail and grocery superstores across the
country. It's stock trades on the New York Stock Exchange under the symbol WMT. Wal-Mart
Stores, Inc. also owns the store chain Sam's Club. The corporation is widely known both
for its dominance of discount retail and grocery markets, and for the criticism it has received regarding
its business practices. Regardless of criticism, the company has become the largest retailer on
the planet, and the second largest corporation. Wal-Mart's revenue is more than most countries,
and it is the largest non-government employer in North America.

Wal-Mart, founded by Sam Walton, opened its first store in Rogers, Arkansas, in 1962. By 1969 it
was had incorporated into Wal-Mart Stores, Inc., and in 1972 it went public on the New York Stock Exchange.
It grew steadily across the United States, and by 1990 it was the nation's largest retailer.
In 1991 and 1994, Wal-Mart moved into Mexico and Canada respectively. By 1997 it was incorporated
into the Dow Jones Industrial Average. As of 2005, Wal-Mart has stores in the United Kingdom, and
Puerto Rico, and brings in a revenue of close to 300 billion dollars a year.

A corporation as large and successful as Wal-Mart doesn't go without a lot of public attention.
Like Starbucks, and other large business entities, Wal-Mart tends to out compete smaller family owned
stores in a region, and for that reason alone it is a target for some scorn and opposition. There
are often public protests in areas where Wal-Mart has declared they are opening a new store. However,
it is some of Wal-Mart's questionable business practices it has received the most criticism for.
It's use of overseas labor, poor environmental policies, low wages for employees and vehement resistance
to unionization has resulted in significant opposition to their growth and operations amongst the general
         public.

To counter their growing criticism, Wal-Mart launched a massive public relations effort beginning in
2005. There efforts have include a variety of commercials, showing Wal-Mart taking care of its
employees. They also have retained the public relations firm Edelman, and have increased their
charitable contributions significantly. The corporation donated 17 million dollars alone to the
         Hurricane Katrina relief effort.

In spite of their efforts, they are still the subject for public criticism worldwide. Their sales,
however, do not seem to be faltering, an indication that there are plenty of customers that feel indifferently
about the controversial chain of stores.

        new and unfamiliar.[...]

I have had many backyard landscape ideas for quite a long time now, but my job has kept me so completely
busy that I have been unable to do the work that I wanted to, to make my yard look great. Although
some of my backyard landscape ideas were rather simple and conventional - such as a brick path through
the garden, or a wooden patio for barbecues - even these were beyond me because I had such a limited
         amount of time.

All of my friends would always tell me that I was a workaholic, and that I simply needed to cut back
on all the stuff that I was doing to give myself time for backyard landscaping, as well as all of my
other hobbies, but I simply could not make myself do it. When, at the age of 54, I had my first
heart attack however, I realized that it was not just a matter of giving myself more time to enjoy the
things that I loved to do. Taking time off was really a matter of life and death to me.

I am one of those guys who always need to feel like I am getting something accomplished, so when I cut
back to a manageable 40 hours a week, I would use my added free time to implement some of my backyard
landscape ideas. I started with what I thought would be a simple backyard landscaping project:
I built a fountain. Originally, I had thought that it would run through the middle of the garden,
crossed by the footpath, but since I had no idea when I would get around to making that footpath, I decided
to put it at the end as well.

Since this was the first of my backyard landscape ideas that I was to actually put into practice, it
was my opportunity to make all of those mistakes that you make when you are trying something new and
unfamiliar. And boy, did I make a few. I thought that this would be an easy backyard landscape
idea to build, but in fact a fountain is pretty hard if you want a stream to. You have to build
and maintain a filter, and put in gravel to trap leaves and stop too much water from leaking. It
took three tries before I finally got it to work the way I wanted. Next time I try building my
backyard landscape ideas, I think I am going to do a better job of planning first.
