Backyard Landscaping Projects
by Heidi Lewis in Home & Garden -
“The previous owner had been a teacher, with the entire summer off. This allowed her ample time
to work in the flower gardens. We both work full time so the weeds were always getting away from
us. The backyard landscaping no longer looked as beautiful as when we moved in. There were
several people that we knew that wanted the perennials. We dug them out and shared them with others
for their backyard landscaping.”

Good Luck Plants - The Money Tree
by Brenda Nelson in Home & Garden -
“Of course, the five leaves represent the fingers and the braided trunks represent the cage. This
innovative and poetic representation gives the money tree its depth and value. For this reason,
the money tree makes a wonderful gift for people who are purchasing a new home. The gift is also
a great idea for a wedding present wishing the happy couple great wealth in the future.”

“I started with what I thought would be a simple backyard landscaping project: I built a fountain.
Originally, I had thought that it would run through the middle of the garden, crossed by the footpath,
but since I had no idea when I would get around to making that footpath, I decided to put it at the end
as well. Since this was the first of my backyard landscape ideas that I was to actually put into
practice, it was my opportunity to make all of those mistakes that you make when you are trying something
new and unfamiliar.”

“The leaves are shaped like hearts and the flower stalks boast little white flowers. The flowers
bloom late in the spring. These perennials do require a good bit of sun, but other than that, they
are very easy to maintain. If you feel the urge to sew your oats, you can choose Chasmanthium latifolium.
These perennials are known as wild oats and they are a grassy plant found in the eastern part of North
America.”

“If you miss the targeted time, the wildflowers may not have time to grow and the weeds may conquer anyway.
There's good news for procrastinators like me. Wildflowers love warm soil, so it is best for
those of us who live in regions that have the full range of temperatures associated with the four seasons
to plant the seeds later in the spring rather than in the beginning.”
